Paige Thorne of Love Island has claimed that she is’stressed’ about having to pay her housing costs after being involved in a ‘nightmare’ court battle.
Last summer, the paramedic shot to national fame after appearing on the ITV2 dating show, departing the villa with her now-ex Adam Collard.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Paige was ‘furious’ after being ‘owed thousands’ by apparel business Forever Unique, with whom she formed a deal after the summer series ended.
It was recently revealed that the retail company founded by Real Housewives of Cheshire star Seema Malhotra and her husband Sandeep Malhotra had gone bankrupt.
Paige said in a recent interview that she had ‘plenty of options’ waiting for her when she returned to the real world after her Love Island stay, and she chose Forever Unique in a six-figure agreement.
Paige told OK! that she upheld her side of the contract, saying that she ‘did all the content’ and ‘posting’ required on social media – but she felt as though Forever Unique ‘wanted me to flood my whole Instagram with stories and constantly do more posts outside of the contract’.
Outlining that she’s suing the firm for an alleged breach of contract, she stated: ‘I was literally like, “Oh my God, I’m owed money. Like, what am I meant to do?” I’m a homeowner and I was so stressed about paying my bills that I was crying to my parents every day, saying, “What am I going to do?” I was relying on that contract so much.’
The reality star said that while everything initially felt as though it had ‘fallen into place’, it ‘quickly turned into a nightmare’.
Recalling how she felt drawn to Forever Unique’s brand values, Paige continued: ‘I went to their office in Manchester, where Seema and the team couldn’t have been more accommodating and lovely.
‘They seemed to really care about the partners they worked with. They said I’d be welcomed into the team and be part of the family and if my initial collection did well, there would be talks of another one in the spring.’
The influencer said that replies from her management and the company were ‘very, very slow’ during chats.
Paige added that her experience with the breaking-down of the partnership has ‘shaken’ her confidence, claiming that it’s a ‘total nightmare’ which is ‘ongoing’.
The Love Island actress recalled it being the ‘darkest moment’ of her life, adding that she went through a stage of drinking and partying in her ‘black days’, which harmed her mental health, and is now seven months sober.
Love Island is available to watch on ITVX.
