Ali Hadji-Heshmati, who plays Lockwood in Joe Cornish’s Netflix thriller, says he was scared during filming the show.
The former Alex Rider star stars as George Karim, a junior agent, opposite Cameron Chapman’s Anthony Lockwood and Lucy Carlyle’s Lucy Catton in the eerie series (Ruby Stokes).
The three of them use their supernatural abilities to go after evil ghosts that are terrorising people’s homes and either killing them or locking them in a state of immobility known as “ghost lock.”
The youngsters face a variety of horrifying ghosts throughout the fun series, which has been likened to Doctor Who.
Even though the ghosts were generated by a combination of stunt performers and CGI, Ali promises that the cast still got the shivers on set.
He explained: ‘I always talk about how I found the monks really scary because we had these dancers who are playing the ghosts of these heretic monks.
‘They then walked towards us and there was this atmospheric music playing in this abandoned barn.
‘I wasn’t even acting I was genuinely terrified.’
Meanwhile, Joe said he had chills while writing the conclusion to Lockwood & Co.
He said: ‘Well, I don’t want to give too much away but as the show goes on, the stakes get bigger and bigger.
‘The whole of season one is leading up to this climactic scene where all the characters are in jeopardy and there is this supernatural artifact of extraordinary power, which is unleashed.
‘And for me, that’s always – without giving anything away – the scariest bit: when the boss ghost in that final level is unleashed.’
Lockwood & Co is available to stream on Netflix.
