Holly Willoughby joining Strictly Come Dancing as a host would be ‘unfair,’ according to Kerry Katona.
The 42-year-old former Atomic Kitten star has denied reports that she might be brought on board by the BBC, which has apparently been ‘plotting for some time’ to get her on board.
‘There are ideas of how she could slot in – nobody is quite sure about that yet but they think she would be perfect,’ a source claimed to the MailOnline last month.
‘It seems like a big project to get her to do it, and would mean moving things around on the show somehow, but there are some executives at the BBC who want it to happen.’
There’s no indication on how any prospective shift would work, but Kerry has stated that Holly should not be hired as a host.
She wrote in her new! magazine column: ‘I don’t think that’s fair on current presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. They’re great at it. They can’t be swapped out!’
Instead, she recommended Holly be a contender and tossed her own name into the pot.
‘I think Holly would be great as a contestant instead,’ she added. ‘I’d be up for doing Strictly, too. Maybe one day!’
Holly and the BBC have not commented to the claims.
Holly returned to the This Morning couch last month following a prolonged absence due to the announcement that Phillip Schofield, 61, had resigned after confessing to having an affair with runner – but is currently on leave for the summer.
She made an appearance earlier this month without announcing her scheduled leave, which she takes every summer.
According to TV sources, she is taking her “regular and planned summer sabbatical,” and she will return in September.
Meanwhile, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who typically co-host This Morning on Fridays, are filling in.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year.
