After welcoming a son with wife Precious Lunga, Jon Snow has stated that he has no reservations about becoming a parent again in the future.
The Channel 4 broadcaster was 73 when he added to his family in 2021, with Tafara born via surrogacy after his wife Precious, 48, experienced miscarriages.
The 75-year-old broadcaster also has two daughters with his ex-partner of 35 years, human rights lawyer Madeleine Colvin, and two grandchildren, ages one and three.
But the idea of parenting a third kid in his 70s hasn’t deterred Jon, who claims he’s ‘not found age significant to his connections with his son or grandchildren.’
He explained: ‘I’m completely at ease with late fatherhood. I don’t feel I’ll drop him; I don’t feel exhausted.’
The journalist also talked about Tafara and her intention to have a kid with Precious.
He told Saga Exceptional: ‘Having him was not easy but we persisted because, at 48, my wife is a good deal younger than me and she very much wanted and deserved a baby. When he was born, life felt complete.’
Jon married for the first time at the age of 62, in the Caribbean, with academic Precious, who is 27 years his junior.
Jon, who is very cautious about his personal life, did not provide any specifics about their wedding day at the time.
He later confirmed ‘some time’ after their wedding: ‘Yes I have got married, but I have absolutely no interest in discussing my private life.’
Jon retired from Channel 4 News in 2021 after 32 years as host, making him the longest-serving presenter in the show’s history.
Jon’s replacement was eventually announced to be Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who joined the It’s A Sin broadcaster’s premier nightly report in 1998.
