One of the cult comedy hits of recent years is being adapted in the US, with Stath Lets Flats getting a new remake.
The sitcom, which is written by and stars Jamie Demetriou, won the Bafta for best scripted comedy earlier this year and has won over critics since debuting on Channel 4 in 2018.
It follows the hapless letting agent Stath Charalambos, who must do everything in his (limited) powers to save the family-run agency, Michael & Eagle.
As Deadline reports, Fox has now ordered a remake with The Good Place writer and stand-up Joe Mande on board.
As well as The Good Place, Joe was a writer on the final three seasons of Parks and Recreation. He also produced Aziz Ansari’s Master of None.
The new single-camera remake will be called Bren Rents. Original series creator Jamie will also act as executive producer.
The first series of Stath Lets Flats was renewed for a third run in October. The new episodes are expected to air in 2021.
Speaking about the show being renewed for series three, Demetriou said: ‘This is lovely. I love Channel 4. Thanks so much for having us back for a series three. Sorry the title is still hard to say. Love Jamie Demetriou from Stalph Les Flav.’
