Tess Daly has admitted she’s been struggling watching her husband Vernon Kay on I’m A Celebrity – being left ‘in tears and unable to sleep’ over the past two weeks.
The Strictly Come Dancing host has been married to the Family Fortunes presenter for the past 17 years, and has watched Vernon every night as he takes on the challenge of living in a Welsh derelict castle.
It’s clear he feels the same, and has been sending them secret messages during the live shows.
While Tess and their daughters, Phoebe and Amber, are proud of Vernon’s efforts so far, she admitted to Lorraine today that she’s ready for her husband to now come home.
‘Oh my goodness, it feels like he has been away forever,’ she said. ‘I think about him every moment of every day and I watch him every night.
‘He is doing brilliantly and it’s lovely watching him, but it’s nerve-wracking, it really is. I worry about him being cold, about him not eating…’
As a result, it’s had an adverse effect on her, leaving her unable to sleep properly, and when she does, dreaming about being in the castle with him.
‘I don’t think I have slept more than five or six hours since he has been in there,’ she admitted.
‘The other day I woke up dreaming I was doing a challenge with Claudia [Winkleman, her Strictly co-host]. It involved snakes and being underground and it was terrifying…’
‘I am living and breathing it every step of the way but loving it,’ she added. ‘I have laughed with them and cried with them.’
Luckily for Tess, it’s not too much longer until they can be reunited – with the final happening this Friday.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV.
