The BBC’s Gladiators reboot has a fresh new emblem, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Gladiators first aired on ITV in 1992 and lasted eight seasons before being cancelled in 2000.
The show, presented by Ulrika Jonsson, pitted athletic TV viewers as Contenders against the show’s powerful Gladiators in competitions that tested their speed, ability, endurance, and strength.
And now, more than two decades later, they’re back, with a brand new breed of superhuman Gladiators competing against a courageous group of contenders in the ultimate test of speed and strength.
They will compete in a variety of new activities as well as traditional challenges such as fan favourite The Eliminator.
As if that wasn’t enough, you can even apply for free tickets to watch the battles unfold.
Filming for the 11-part series will take place at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield during the spring school vacations, and viewers will be among the first to feel the power in this magnificent family day out.
Dan Baldwin, Managing Director Hungry Bear said: ‘Watching Gladiators LIVE in the arena is the perfect day out for all the family.
‘Being close-up to the action is going to be an incredible experience like no other.
‘Plus, we’re making the tickets free, so it won’t cost you a penny to get in!’
Between 1992 and 2000, the ITV series became a live TV spectacle, attracting over 14 million people.
Gladiators was subsequently revived for two seasons on Sky One in 2008, including three special episodes pitting the new Gladiators against the original Gladiator Legends.
The programme has had several spin-offs in nations such as Australia, the United States, Finland, and South Africa.
Gladiators returns to BBC soon.
