Following her return to This Morning, Holly Willoughby is apparently not going to raise Phillip Schofield‘s infidelity again.
Josie Gibson joined the 42-year-old on the afternoon show, taking a deep breath as she gave her message to the cameras following Phil’s news of his departure and the fact that he lied about having an affair with a runner.
The presenters clasped hands as Holly’s eyes welled up with emotions before continuing with the rest of the day’s activities.
She opened her speech by asking if viewers at home were doing well, as well as telling them that she aims to rediscover the ‘warmth and enchantment’ of This Morning in the near future.
Following a mixed reaction from viewers, it has been stated that Holly would only address the consequences in yesterday’s episode.
An insider shared: ‘This is the only time Holly will ever speak about Phil and what has happened. She still feels incredibly angry and upset by his actions and is very much still trying to get her head around it.
‘It took a lot for Holly to compose herself and speak about what has gone on in the last few weeks. But people expecting her to sit and pour her heart out will be waiting for a long time,’ they added to The Sun.
Former co-host Phillip gave candid interviews to The Sun and BBC last week, claiming to have ‘lost everything’.
He said that he ‘wouldn’t be here’ if it hadn’t been for his two children, Molly and Ruby, since the aftermath of his affair disclosure had left him suicidal.
Phillip also told how he apologised to former BFF Holly for his actions.
He said: ‘I’ve lost my best friend. I let her down (Holly). I let that entire show down. I let the viewers down.
‘Holly did not know (about the affair). And she was one of the first texts that I sent, to say, “I am so, so sorry that I lied to you”.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
