Caterina Scorsone of Grey’s Anatomy disclosed that she and her three young children survived a horrific house fire that killed all four of her dogs.
The actress, who portrays Amelia Shepherd on the long-running medical drama, described the heinous event that occurred a few months ago.
The 41-year-old, who has children Lucky, 3, Eliza, 10, and Paloma Michaela, 6, with ex-husband Rob Giles, posted a series of photos depicting the blaze’s devastation.
‘A couple of months ago my house burned down. While getting my kids ready for bed and finishing bath time, smoke began to seep up through the grout around the tub,’ she penned.
‘When I looked down the hallway a river of thick black smoke had already formed and was filling the house.’
‘One thing about fires is that they strike quickly,’ she noted. I had about two minutes to get my three kids out of the home, and we got away with nothing more than our sneakers. But we made it out. And I will be forever thankful.
‘Heartbreakingly, we lost all four of our pets. We are still sitting with that loss, but we are lucky we got to love them at all.’
The actress subsequently thanked her Grey’s Anatomy co-stars for providing ‘clothing and supplies.’
Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson) wrote: ‘What an amazing parent inspiration you are.. you are SO loved!’ Scorsone’s co-stars commended her for sharing her tale.
On the popular program, actor Chris Carmack, who portrays Link Lincoln, said, “I pray I never have to deal with anything like this… But if I do, I pray I can emulate your example of kindness in the face of adversity. Love to you and your family.
‘You are genuinely an amazing human, and I am sending all the love I have to you and yours,’ said co-star Jake Borelli (Dr. Levi Schmitt).
Grey’s Anatomy is available to stream on Disney Plus in the UK.
