Gogglebox star Julie Malone has revealed her family are finally celebrating her son Lee’s wedding, a year after he tied the knot.
The reality star took to Instagram to share the update that her eldest son’s wedding would be happening in a couple of weeks, having just returned from celebrating another wedding in Ireland.
She also shared that she had been feeling ‘quite ill’ recently, after suffering from gastroenteritis, but was now ‘feeling better’ and ‘back on it.’
‘Our eldest son Lee’s wedding, which is in a couple of weeks,’ Julie announced.
Lee and his partner Sarah legally tied the knot in April last year during the pandemic, and are now preparing for their celebrations.
The couple welcomed their first son Grayson in November last year, making Julie and her husband Tom grandparents again.
Despite their eldest son Lee not appearing on the popular Channel 4 show, the Malones are favourites of the series since their first appearance in 2014.
Lee’s three siblings, Vanessa, Tom Jr and Shaun have frequently appeared as TV sofa-critics beside their parents, although Tom Jr quit the programme in February 2021, after six years.
At the time, he said he was ‘eternally grateful’ for appearing on the series, but that ‘new opportunities’ were knocking on his door, including, as it turned out, an amusing TikTok career and an apt gig as ‘Head of Chair Testing’ for company Bigdug.
Adding to his list of talents, Tom Jr is also a choreographer and has worked with stars like Rita Ora and Wiley.
NHS nurse Vanessa took his place on the sofa, sometimes joined by her three young children, alongside Tom, Julie and their adorable dogs, of which they have had four throughout their time on Gogglebox.
Unfortunately last year, the Malones’ rottweiler Izzey died, and only a month ago their rottweiler Lucy died.
The family shared the heartbreaking news to their official Instagram account with a picture of Tom Sr kissing old girl Lucy tenderly on the head, her eyes closed, and revealed she had died earlier that day.
‘Today we said goodbye to our beloved Lucy,’ they wrote.
‘She fought right to the end to stay with us,’ adding that Lucy was now reunited with Izzey.
Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 every Friday at 9pm.
