After nearly 12 years on the air, MTV’s raucous reality series Geordie Shore has apparently been cancelled.
The popular reality series, which premiered in May 2011, produced famous industry figures such as I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison, Charlotte Crosby, and Gaz Beadle.
‘MTV executives have decided to call it a day on Geordie Shore,’ a source said.
‘The already commissioned series, the show’s 24th, will go forward with production beginning this weekend, and the reunion will take place later this summer, as scheduled.’
According to The Sun, executives think the long-running show hasn’t been the same in recent years, and the current cast may be stunned by the news.
Charlotte, Gaz, Vicky, Jay Gardner, Holly Hagan, James Tindale, Greg Lake, and Sophie Kasaei were among the initial cast members.
The show was received with widespread criticism when it originally aired, with fans accusing it of promoting excessive drinking.
Despite the criticism, the series was a popular favourite, spawning various spin-offs such as All Star Shore and reunion concerts.
Certain cast members, such as Vicky and Charlotte, have landed huge brand agreements as a result of their time on the show.
