Fern Britton has put an end to any speculation that she may return to This Morning.
Between 1999 to 2009, the former Strictly contestant, 65, hosted the ITV afternoon show alongside John Leslie and then Phillip Schofield.
The presenter of Ready Steady Cook was succeeded by Holly Willoughby, 42, who continued to present with Phillip, 61, until he left the long-running show and subsequently ITV.
Phillip left the broadcaster with ‘immediate effect’ after admitting on This Morning to lying about a ‘unwise but not criminal’ romance with a younger runner.
Since the former Dancing On Ice host stepped down, the Wylde Moon creator has used stand-ins, first Josie Gibson and now Craig Doyle.
However, ITV is yet to determine who will take up the role permanently, however Craig, Rylan Clark, and Stacey Solomon are among the frontrunners to succeed Phillip.
Given Fern’s background on This Morning, whispers have circulated that she may return to the iconic sofa after more than a decade away.
She has now ruled out returning to the show, stating that ‘you should never look back.’
She continued to Good Housekeeping: ‘I don’t think I’d be able to turn the clock back; it wouldn’t work that way.
‘My time at This Morning was marvellous and I adored the 10 years I was there, but I feel you should never look back.’
Last month, an ITV representative stated that future hosts of the show will be announced “in due time.”
‘In the meantime, we will draw on the This Morning family for presenters to co-present with Holly,’ they added in a statement to The Journal.
Fern has featured on a number of series after This Morning, including Strictly Come Dancing, when she was paired with professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev, A Right Roya Quiz, and Watercolour Challenge.
She has also written a number of best-selling novels, as well as collections of short stories and nonfiction.
The August 2023 issue of Good Housekeeping is now on sale.
