Extraordinary, a new UK original from Disney Plus, is aiming to leave fans in a trance with its supernatural premise.
The eight-part series follows Jen, a 25-year-old who is the sole normal person in a society where everyone gains superpowers on their 18th birthday.
Consider Encanto meets Misfits!
In a world where one can alter their hair colour with the snap of a finger and another can turn back time, even cats have a power….poor Jen will gladly accept anything!
:‘Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower.’ according to the official synopsis.
Will Jen find, however, that being different from the others may be the greatest strength of all?
Everything you need to know about the brand-new series is right here…
When does Extraordinary come out?
Extraordinary is now available to watch on Disney Plus now!
If you want to watch all eight episodes at once, you’re in luck because they’re all available on the streaming site.
Who is in the cast?
Máiréad Tyers (Jen) from Tell Me Everything leads the cast as she strives to fit in with the supernatural community.
Sofia Oxenham from Poldark and Bilal Hasna from Screw co-star as Jen’s childhood best friend Carrie, who can connect with the dead, and her time-manipulating boyfriend, Kash.
Jen’s mother Mary is played by Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney, and her stepfather Ian is played by Desmond’s actor Robbie Gee.
Is there a trailer?
Jen’s main flaws, according to the clip, are ‘crippling insecurity, selfishness, and a lack of ambition.’
While she tries to convince herself that she doesn’t need a superpower, Jen’s desire to fit in becomes clear.
Jen’s sister Carrie possesses the capacity to channel the dead, and Carrie’s beau Kash possesses the ability to reverse time.
Extraordinary is available to stream on Disney Plus.
