Dick and Angel Strawbridge of Channel 4’s Escape to the Chateau discussed how they intended their cherished programme to conclude before the channel broke relations with them.
The pair is apparently under investigation for an unexplained cause, according to reports this week.
A spokesperson confirmed in a statement, for Channel 4: ‘Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.’
Production company Two Rivers Media also added: ‘We can confirm that we will no longer work with Dick and Angel and cannot comment further at the moment.’
Dick and Angel, who have been married since 2015, were interviewed last year ahead of the debut of their ninth and last season of Escape to the Chateau, which premiered in 2016.
The ninth season premiered in October of last year, with the last episode airing in December.
Despite allegations that Channel 4 had opted to discontinue the show, the pair stated that it was their decision.
‘You know what, we wanted to go out on a high,’ Angel said in October, as Dick added to The Guardian: ‘Rather than someone asking us to stop!’
They continued at the time: ‘There’s still so much to do in the house, we could probably go on for a few more years, but every year we’ve said to each other, does it feel right to do another series?
‘Because it’s not a format as such, it’s our family life. With Arthur being 10 in January and Dorothy being nine next year, it was a natural time to stop.’
While the duo was wrapping up Escape to the Chateau, it was announced that they were working on an Escape to the Chateau: Secret France spin-off for 2023.
According to reports, the series would consist of four one-hour episodes.
However, with Channel 4 no longer collaborating with them, it’s uncertain if the show will run.
Two Rivers Media voiced concerns about Dick and Angel, According to Deadline.
Three former coworkers who talked to the newspaper claimed that the two had a falling out with the producers.
