Ekin-Su Cülcülolu may be competing in the first Dancing On Ice skate-off of 2023, but she’s not about to let anyone dim her radiance.
On Sunday night, the 2022 Love Island winner, 28, and her professional partner Brendyn Hatfield performed Britney Spears‘ smash Toxic.
Viewers of ITV’s skating competition were left wondering how Ekin-Su didn’t completely melt the ice, given her gorgeous dress, which left nothing to the imagination, and, of course, how she reproduced her iconic Love Island crawl on all fours.
Unfortunately, their first skate did not impress voters, as they finished last in the public vote while being in the centre of the leaderboard with the judges’ points.
It means that Ekin-Su and Brendyn, who were paired with Rachel Stevens last year, will have to compete against another couple in the dreaded skate-off next week, with the second coupling revealed once the other half of the contestants have performed.
After learning she was in the skate-off, the Turkish actress appeared surprised, looking at her partner in amazement before explaining to host Phillip Schofield that she had been ill throughout training.
However, in classic Ekin-Su fashion, she has picked herself up and is ready to go.
‘I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their life,’ the reality star stated in a defiant message to her 105k Twitter followers. Life seems to be flying by, and we should take advantage of it.’
‘Don’t let anyone bring you down because you’re worth more,’ she continued.
Despite the fact that her first performance did not go as planned, the TV icon was met with an outpouring of love from her fans.
‘Hope you are ok! You were incredible yesterday and looked just stunning’, one replied.
‘You did amazing yesterday and you’ll do amazing this Sunday too. we are all proud of you’, added another.
Another fan told her that she ‘smashed it on the ice’ while one penned sweetly: ‘You have everyone talking as always, you bring everything to these shows, without you they would be nothing! Rooting for you’.
Ekin-Su apparently read the show’s comments last weekend, as she liked several tweets about her performance.
One tweet the star noticed read: ‘All the hate @ekinsuofficial is getting is absolutely disgusting! She obviously didn’t choreograph the dance or style her outfit herself. Online trolls are attacking her for something that’s completely out of her control. She looked and preformed incredibly! Well done Ekinsu’.
‘Hate her, Love her; one thing is sure, you will be talking about her all season. Well done Ekin Su, you smashed it’, a die-hard supporter added.
In her maiden trip on the ice, Ekin-Su, who had the full support of boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti in the audience, skated against luminaries like as Siva Kaneswaran, Patsy Palmer, and Michelle Heaton.
Former Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, though, topped the leaderboard after an incredible routine.
The Vivienne, Mollie Gallagher, and Carly Stenson will give it their all next Sunday in the hopes of surviving another week.
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday on ITV.
