Dr. Hilary Jones has revealed the trick to keeping himself appearing youthful after many people were stunned by his age reveal.
The ITV favourite, who appears often on Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, recently celebrated a milestone birthday.
He was on GMB in June when it was announced that he was turning 70, which surprised many people, including his colleagues.
‘Never I don’t believe it, no,’ declared Richard Madeley, 67, while a stunned Susanna Reid, 52, joked: ‘I want what he’s having!’
The modest TV medic quipped in response: ‘Make-up is brilliant these days, isn’t it? Hides all the wrinkles and everything.’
In a recent interview, he has divulged even more of his secrets. Please excuse us while we go get a notebook and a pen.
‘I felt very flattered that people were surprised that I was 70 – I put it down to make-up,’ he began.
If you see us at the cosmetics counter in Boots, you’ll know why.
He continued to Best Magazine: ‘And also exercise, over the years. But I don’t think of myself anything like that age, I think of myself at 25.’
He also attributes his youthfulness to his large family.
‘Having five kids and surrounding myself with young people, and keeping up to date with the news, helps to establish that mindset of youth.
‘I never really want to grow up properly – I’m far too immature for that,’ he concluded.
Dr. Hilary also revealed how he celebrated the milestone, and he had three parties! This is due to the fact that he celebrated individually with family, friends, and ITV.
‘I was really spoiled that week,’ he proclaimed.
It’s not finished yet, though, as he’s planning a huge family vacation later this year to keep the positive feelings going. You only get to be 70 once!
Viewers were quick to express their surprise at his age and wish him a happy birthday back in June.
‘Happy 70th Birthday to a doctoring legend Hilary, you have helped so many people over your years as the Doctor in morning TV, you’re a credit to your profession & who doesn’t look his age,’ they wrote.
While someone else joked: ‘Dr Hilary looks younger now than he does in that compilation!’ after watching a montage of his time on ITV.
Dr Hilary has been a frequent health and medical expert on GMTV since 1989.
Dr Hilary remained as Health Editor when ITV revamped their morning programmes with the addition of Daybreak and Lorraine in 2010, followed by Daybreak’s successor GMB in 2014.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
