The Whoniverse is growing with the addition of a new cast member to the BBC’s Doctor Who.
The main series will return to our screens in November, with Ncuti Gatwa, 30, reincarnating as the Fifteenth Doctor to replace Jodie Whittaker, 40.
The Timelord will, of course, be accompanied by his trusty companion, portrayed by Millie Gibson, 18, of Coronation Street, who has been sighted filming the Russell T Davies thriller.
Glee’s Jonathan Groff, 38, has been hired in an unspecified new role, as has Doctor Who veteran Bonnie Langford, who will reprise her role as Mel Bush.
Another exciting addition to the cast has been reported, with a rising talent taking on the role of new character Morris.
Lenny Rush, 14, has joined the 14th season after appearing in Daisy May Cooper’s Am I Being Unreasonable? and a Christmas Carol.
While further information about Morris is being withheld, Lenny stated, ‘It’s an amazing privilege to be a part of Doctor Who, one of the most legendary series on television, and wow what a dream come true!’
Morris has discussed his acting goals, admitting that his dream part would be a ‘gritty baddie’ like the Joker, so who knows what’s in store for him.
Lenny, who has Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia congenita, a disorder that hinders his growth, recently explained why seeing him on film is so beneficial for mothers of challenged children.
He explained: ‘I’m proud because you don’t, it’s a shame, but you don’t see many. It is getting better, it’s getting better and better.
‘But yeah I mean it’s sort of it’s still quite rare to see in my opinion, so I’m proud to be representing them and hopefully it brings more people in.’
Lenny continued: ‘I think it’s good for mums as well, if they’ve got any kids with a disability, and it seems like the worst, you know they’ll be able to see people like me and feel they will get out of it and it will be good.’
David Tennant will return as the Doctor for three special episodes to commemorate the fantasy series’ 60th anniversary ahead of the 14th season of Doctor Who.
The actor played the Doctor from 2005 until 2010, then returned for a special five years later.
For the last performance, he’ll be joined by Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble. Neil Patrick Harris and Yasmin Finney will also make their Doctor Who debuts.
Doctor Who returns in November to the BBC with three special episodes starring David. Ncuti’s first episode will air over the festive period.
