Ashley Banjo and Diversity have been confirmed to return to the Britain’s Got Talent stage for the Christmas special.
Dance troupe leader Ashley is filling in for Simon Cowell on the judges’ panel, and will be bringing a festive routine to the show.
The decision comes after the group’s last routine drew more than 24,000 complaints for their 2020 summary, which included a dedication to the Black Lives Matter movement.
In the new routine, Diversity will be joined by 2008 winner George Sampson.
The moment will also mark the 11 year anniversary of Diversity, who first auditioned for the show back in 2009.
‘I feel like it’s been really nice to get to over 10 years of Diversity, get through the end of a really horrible year, but then also do something that sort of brings us full circle,’ Ashley teased of the routine.
‘It’s made me feel sort of fired up, so it’s been inspiring and humbling, and has made me fired up for the next 10 years.’
Ashley won’t be the only judge putting something into the one-off celebration – with all the judges performing for the first time, with previous winners offering them support.
Alesha Dixon will perform Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with 2017 winner, Tokio Myers, and Amanda Holden will join forces with Collabro to perform her single Home For Christmas.
David Walliams has also created a special comedy sketch – an alternative Queen’s speech with the help of a number of former stand-up stars including Lost Voice Guy, Daliso Chaponda and Robert White.
‘I think everybody was just really excited to see what the other people were going to bring to the stage, so I think it was just really nice, really good energy,’ Ashley said.
‘But having said all of that, you know me, I’m trying to be super polite, of course I want to be the best one!’
