During the continuing summer, Dermot O’Leary may be able to work in a studio outfitted with conditioning, but he’s had to change mid-show on This Morning after being a touch too hot.
While the summer was a washout, the UK is now experiencing scorching temperatures, albeit in September.
After a heatwave in June, one of the rainiest Julys on record, and a dreadful August, temperatures have reached 32 degrees Celsius this week, with Thursday being designated the hottest day of the year.
Despite presenter Holly Willoughby‘s earlier claim that the air-conditioning in the studio had left her cold despite the sun beaming outside, it appears that the cooling wasn’t enough for Dermot.
He had to modify his clothing for Friday’s event.
After a commercial break, Dermot reappeared some 30 minutes later in a white polo shirt, having previously worn a beige T-shirt at the start of the show.
He then explained to co-host Alison Hammond why he’d changed his shirt and was rather candid about it.
As Alison gave a run-down of the weather forecast, Dermot said it was ‘so hot I’ve had to change my shirt’.
‘I’m so hot and sweaty…,’ he said.
However, there’s a chance producers also had to step in after Alison left him with make-up all over his sleeve earlier in the show.
As the programme began, Alison had welcomed her co-host back from his summer holiday and gave him a huge hug, but soon after they realised her make-up had spread all over his shirt, which they laughed off.
It’s not the first time the presenting duo has been caught up in some rather embarrassing on-air situations, including one earlier this year when they didn’t aware they were live.
In May, they made a mistake when a live cross cut to them too soon.
Lorraine presenter Ranvir Singh has been concluding that show with the customary cross to the This Morning studio to see what was going to be on their show.
However, as soon as she done so, it became evident that the two hosts had no idea they were being aired.
While Dermot could be heard asking a producer for a drink of water, Alison was reclining back on the couch, scrolling her phone, while Ranvir tried to grab their attention.
When she did, they all burst out laughing, with Dermot declaring that they were ‘completely ready’ to go.
