Joining the ranks of stars who completely morph into their characters for the sake of their art, David is becoming troll for the latest special of After Ever After.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge was spotted on the set of Sky’s twisted take on Hansel and Gretel, filming new scenes for the upcoming fairy tale special.
Standing in a towering troll suit, David was covered in green and grey make-up, and towered over his child co-stars as he swung around a spiked ball and chain.
The incredible make-up work completely transforms the Little Britain star, leaving him with a bald head, protruding features and a permanent grimace.
Hansel and Gretel is currently being filmed in Buckinghamshire, but is yet to be given a release date, with upcoming special for Jack and The Beanstalk coming first.
He is joined by Sheridan Smith and The Inbetweeners’ Blake Harrison in the new effort for After Ever After, which picks up after the end of the beloved fairy tale.
David will play the giant, who after surviving his fall, has to recruit his enemy Jack to help him get back home – and away from the villagers who have all shunned him.
Blake will play the dodgy dealer who sold Jack the infamous beans in the first place, and Sheridan will star as The Woman With No Name, who stakes her reputation on being the best giant slayer in the land.
Filming for Hansel and Gretel is well under way but was disrupted this month by builders who were building a wedding venue next door.
David is definitely keeping himself busy this holiday season – and will also appear on our screens back in the judges’ chair for the Britain’s Got Talent Christmas special.
The one-off for the holidays will also be the first time that David appears on stage and performs for the audience, and will sadly be missing Simon Cowell, who is still recovering after breaking his back in an e-bike accident.
Let’s hope that he goes a little easier on the make-up for that one…
