One rich London homeowner shared a fairly, well, appropriate anecdote about former Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron and what he thought of his own party members.
John Gryphon, multi-millionaire philanthropist and former owner of Addison Lee luxury cab firm, related the incident while touring estate agent Lee Koffman around his £29 million London home.
Lee said the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom property, which has a private garden and a separate guest house, was worth ‘every cent’ of its multi-million pound asking price.
The outside of the Hanover Terrace mansion, built in 1892, has views over Regent Park’s boating and swan lake, with a very elegant balcony to appreciate it from.
We wouldn’t say no if it was served to us on a silver platter.
But someone did, and that person was Mr Cameron, Conservative Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016, who declined the offer of a party there.
Because Lee stated on tonight’s edition of Britain’s Most Expensive Houses, ‘I bet you’ve had some wonderful parties here, haven’t you?’ John responded with the unexpected story.
‘Just a few,’ he began.
‘David Cameron, the well-known Prime Minister, was here visiting me and I asked him, would he like me to arrange a party of Conservative do-gooders,’ he told Lee, who let out a laugh at this.
But John continued: ‘And he said no. He said, “It’s too good for them.” So I thought that was quite nice.’
This incident comes shortly before the Partygate report’s judgement on Boris Johnson’s behaviour during the Covid-19 epidemic was released.
It determined that Mr Johnson, who served as Prime Minister from 2019 until his resignation over the incident last year, intentionally mislead Parliament when he stated that lockdown rules had not been violated at Number 10.
In another segment, a couple was overjoyed when their Shoreditch canal-side boathouse sold for a £350,000 profit at £1.1 million.
That is a two-bed, people. Yes, it’s time to uninstall the RightMove app…
