The newest news about the impending Daredevil: Born Again series on Disney Plus has fans both delighted… and disappointed.
It was confirmed this week that Jon Bernthal would allegedly reprise his role as Punisher in the Marvel TV programme, joining Charlie Cox as lawyer Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as the nefarious Wilson Fisk, or Kingpin.
Many fans of the original Netflix drama hoped that more original cast members would return, but it has been reported that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Matt’s coworkers and friends Karen and Foggy, respectively, will not be returning.
The performers are not on the cast list for the series, which is presently in production, according to a report.
The Hollywood Reporter stated that it is unclear whether the characters would be recast or deleted entirely from the tale.
Given how adored Karen and Foggy were on Daredevil, having both been in the tale since season one, many fans are devastated that they may not return.
‘Why aren’t Foggy and Karen coming back? I don’t understand,’ one confused person asked on Twitter.
‘You can’t do Daredevil without foggy and Karen, they were so perfectly cast. This decision makes NO sense at all,’ another remarked.
Someone else wrote: ‘It’s quite simply an awful fumble from Marvel not to include Karen and Foggy. Their dynamic as a trio is what held Daredevil together with its incredible performances and writing. It won’t be the same.’
One fan speculated that Daredevil: Born Again may be set during the Blip – the five-year period following Avengers: Infinity War when half of the world’s population vanished – and so could wind up returning for season two.
Conversely, another fan predicted that Foggy and Karen may appear as a pleasant surprise on the programme at some point.
Deborah said in November of last year that she has not yet been approached to be a part of the Daredevil remake.
Speaking on Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast Inside Of You, she said: ‘I can say this: they have not called me yet. So, as of now, I am not a part of it. I would be thrilled to get to be a part of it. They know where I am.’
She continued: ‘Like I said, I love the character Karen Page. I love telling that story. I feel like I have more to say. But it is up to them what kind of story that they want to tell.’
Daredevil: Born Again is available to watch on Disney Plus.
