Dancing On Ice star Rachel Stevens addressed whether she felt she had any advantage on the show after finishing as a runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2008.

Rachel is one of the favourites to make it all the way to the finale of the ‘greatest show on ice’ which returned to ITV last weekend.

Although she’ll be missing her debut skate due to injury, she’s hoping to bounce back in time for week three with the help of partner Brendyn Hatfield.

But Rachel made clear that despite her background of wowing viewers on Strictly, it won’t be helping her succeed on Dancing On Ice.

The star competed with Vincent Simone on the 2008 series, finishing in second place behind eventual winner Tom Chambers.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press, Rachel labelled the show ‘a whole different ball game’ as she reflected on learning the new skill.

She said: ‘Obviously the structure of the show is very similar but I mean Strictly was 12 years ago for me, so it was a long, long time ago. But when you add the element of the ice, then it’s a whole different ball game.

‘It’s learning this most incredible skill which is just so amazing. The pros make it look so effortless and when I watch it, I’m like wow this is so beautiful.

‘They make it look so easy and then when you get on there, it’s so so hard!’

She added: ‘I’m just trying to take it all in and learn it all and give it my everything.’

Meanwhile, Rachel assured fans her injury is ‘healing well’ after she was forced to withdraw from week two of the competition, due to a previous wrist fracture.

Rachel was due to take to the ice with the remaining six celebrities who didn’t skate in week one, including Love Island’s Liberty Poole and dancer Regan Gascoigne.

She said: ’I actually wasn’t with Brendyn [Hatfield, her partner] at the time, I was with my coach, this was a couple of weeks before Christmas.

‘I mean, I fell quite a few times, obviously, as you do, trying to push yourself and trying to push myself out of my comfort zone and yeah, I just fell, and it hurt.

‘I had to know what I’d done, but after that, I had incredible support, I went and I got an X-Ray done and I’ve had amazing, like medical advice from the team.’

She gave a positive update on her condition, adding: ‘It’s healing really, really well, I’m just so grateful to still be able to be in [the competition], and be a part of it.

‘We’re working super, super hard off the ice, so that – fingers crossed – I can get back on really, really soon, I cannot wait to get back on.’

Rachel expressed her annoyance at not being able to progress as much as she’d like, concluding: ‘It’s been so frustrating, but we’ve been doing everything we can to be fit for when I can get back on.’

We hope so too, Rachel!

Dancing On Ice continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on ITV.
