Fresh hope for a new episode of This Country (Picture: BBC)
After ending This Country in 2020, Daisy May Cooper has teased there could be a chance to catch-up with Kerry and Kurtan Mucklow again for a Christmas Special.
This Country steadily became one of the most popular British comedies in recent memory, following cousins Kurtan and Kerry navigating through life in suburban Gloucestershire, terrorising neighbours and giving their local vicar a headache.
It’s been more than a year since the sitcom came to a close on BBC Three after three series, but as more and more people fell in love with This Country in lockdown there could be at least another episode.
On Saturday night, Daisy appears on The Jonathan Ross Show where she hinted at a Christmas special.
‘We might do… maybe we’ll do a Christmas special some time in the future, but I’m not sure yet,’ she told Wossy.
This Country is very much a family affair. Daisy wrote the series alongside her brother Charlie Cooper, who plays Kurtan, while their father Paul Cooper plays Kerry’s absent father.

‘Dad was absolutely terrible,’ Daisy revealed. ‘He couldn’t remember his lines. It was horrendous.’
‘[Charlie] wasn’t a professional actor. He went to uni to study sport science and then realised he was really thick.’
Daisy, however, studied at esteemed drama school RADA.
‘I absolutely hated it,’ she said. ‘I’m annoyed now I’ve got to pay my student loan back. One of the lessons used to be, this really old director that we had, he must have been in his 80s, who used to just fall asleep when watching you perform, his only note was, “Do it better”.’
Bridesmaids writer and director Paul Feig has adapted This Country for US television, with Sean Willian Scott starring as ‘The Vicar’, originally played by Paul Chahidi.
The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturday night at 9.35pm on ITV.
