Courteney Cox revealed she would be open to star in Downton Abbey, but only if she could be one of the ‘posh’ characters.
The 57-year-old actress has been involved in a number of TV projects following her breakthrough role on the American sitcom Friends, which includes Cougar Town and Dirt.
But now the star is eyeing up a certain period drama located across the pond.
‘I want to be in Downton,’ she said during Saturday’s The John Bishop Show alongside Hugh Bonneville, who stars as Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham in the ITV historical series.
‘I think I’d like to be a posh one – they’ve got better frocks.’
Unlike her notable character Monica Geller, who was known for her particular attention to detail, Courteney insists she’s put those kinds of roles to bed.
‘I wouldn’t want to play another competitive neat freak,’ she added.
The award-winning show depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era.
The forthcoming period drama, titled Downton Abbey: A New Era, was due to arrive in cinemas on March 18 but has been now pushed back to April 29 in the UK and May 20 in the US.
It had already faced a delay after bosses originally planned for a Christmas 2021 cinematic release.
Dame Maggie Smith, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern will all be reprising their roles.
Actors Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West are also joining the cast.
The sequel will see the beloved characters go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa.
The John Bishop Show airs tonight at 9.35pm on ITV and ITV Hub
