Courteney Cox may technically be Emmy nominated as part of the Friends cast now that their reunion special has been recognised – but it’s not the recognition she’s looking for.
The actress, who played Monica Gellar for all 10 seasons of Friends, was the only main cast member not to receive an Emmy nomination during the show’s run.
Now, Courtney – along with Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry – has been nominated for outstanding variety special at this year’s Emmys, seeing as they were executive producers of Friends: The Reunion.
However, while the 57-year-old is delighted that the work of director Ben Winston is being recognised, she isn’t taking this as a personal nod.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the star said: ‘Honestly, I am so happy that the reunion has been recognised because I think it’s terrific. Ben Winston did a great job and all of his crew.
‘That’s not exactly the Emmy I was looking for. I’m being honest with you.’
Courtney continued: ‘I’m so happy to be a part of it. I’m so thrilled that I got to do it onstage back at that same studio, the same Stage 24, with those incredible people that I love so much. And I’m so thrilled, but that Emmy [nomination] really belongs to Ben Winston…

‘So yes, I’m so happy. But when I was on Howard Stern, I wasn’t talking about that.’
Courtney appeared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show back in June, and admit that it hurt when all her co-stars received individual Emmy nominations for their performances on Friends, while she never did.
Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, won for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series in 1998 and was nominated a further five times, while Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green, won the outstanding lead actress award in 2002, and was nominated twice more, as well as bagging two outstanding supporting actress nominations.
David Schwimmer (Ross Gellar) was nominated for outstanding supporting actor in 1995, Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) was nominated for outstanding lead actor in 2002, 2003 and 2004, and Matthew Perry got a lead actor nod in 2002.
