When it was discovered that Gino D’Acampo had left the ITV travel show, the hearts of its followers were devastated.
the agitated The 46-year-old This Morning chef cited schedule issues as the reason for his resignation, bringing his adventures with Fred Sirieix, 51, and Gordon Ramsay, 56, to an early conclusion.
Infamous events like Gino stripping down to nothing to the terror of Gordon and the First Dates star are the result of the trio’s constant fighting and pandemonium as they toured around nations including the United States and Greece.
So much so that it has raised the possibility of a Road Trip revival, even without Gino.
We asked Fred about it before the premiere of his new BBC programme, Ultimate Wedding Planner, which he judges with Sara Davies and Raj Somaiya from Dragon’s Den.
‘I mean, the thing is, we couldn’t get the dates together, so we can’t do the show anymore, unfortunately. So yeah, that’s all I can say. And I have to say there’s nothing else to say,’ he replied.

When asked if he would join Gordon for Road Trip à Deux, Fred insisted the show couldn’t exist with Gino.
He responded: ‘I mean, the question is not that. I mean, we couldn’t get, like I said to you, we couldn’t wait to get the dates together. And so we’re not doing Gino, Gordon and Fred anymore, because we’re not gonna get the dates.’
That’s it then, I guess. Let’s hope that availability appears in the schedules so that the band can reassemble.
In the meanwhile, you may see Fred and his new co-stars in Ultmate Wedding Planner providing their opinions on wannabe wedding planners who are handed the keys to six courageous couples’ wedding ceremonies.
Fred hinted he was a tough judge, saying that he is on the hunt for ‘excellence and total professionalism.’
‘It’s a profession and I know what it takes as I’ve been doing this for thirty years at the highest level and I am really only looking for the best. I’m not here to take prisoners,’ he explained.
As for Sara and Raj? Fred was full of praise and described the pair of them as ‘very professional’ and with ‘clear vision.’
He said: ‘We were very clear about what our role was: we are judges, we are here to help and support the competitors, but at the end of the day, they have to do the competition themselves. And then we have to judge them on on the job done.’
But it wasn’t all work and no play with Fred revealing they let off steam once the cameras stopped rolling.
‘We had a lot of fun, lots of meals and lots of gin and tonics and bottles of wine. It was fun, we really had a good time,’ he said.
Gordon, Gino & Fred: Road Trip is available to watch on ITVX. Ultimate Wedding Planner begins on Tuesday August 8 on BBC Two at 9pm.
