Greg Davies’ doctor has’seriously’ advised him to reduce weight.
The 54-year-old actor and stand-up comedian confessed that his stature makes it simple to mine on-stage material, but medical doctors recommended him to get in shape.
The comic has stated that a doctor cautioned him ‘something horrible will happen’ if he didn’t alter his lifestyle.
‘While I’ve got rich pickings from turning the gun on myself, and my nature is to try and grab laughs wherever possible,’ he told The Sun, ‘it’s not a justification to stay what I am physically.
When The Cleaner returns for a second season on Friday, Davies will reprise his role as Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead.
The BBC One sitcom follows Wicky, a crime scene cleaner who, despite the gore, finds humour in the characters he encounters on the job.
Davies stated that filming the new season included a lot of shenanigans that may reflect ‘badly’ on him, such as dousing ex-My Family actress Zoe Wanamaker with water.
‘I’m sure that it reflects very badly on me on so many levels that chucking a bucket of water in Zoë Wanamaker’s face is right up there. “She really didn’t seem to mind though,’ he said.
The Taskmaster star also revealed his delight at working alongside Asim Chaudhry, John Macmillan, Simon Callow, and Dame Harriet Walter.
‘The cast for this season are brilliant and that there are so many distinguished actors amongst them leads me to believe that The BBC have secrets that they are using as leverage,’ he continued.
‘Me, the writing and production teams are very grateful for this support.’
Davies will also reclaim the Taskmaster crown when the 15th season of the hit game show airs.
The new series will premiere on Channel 4 on Thursday, March 30 at 9 p.m.
Frankie Boyle, Ivo Graham, Jenny Eclair, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, and Mae Martin will be among the new candidates attempting to impress Davies throughout his tasks.
Series two of The Cleaner comes to BBC One at 9.30pm on Friday, March 23.
The 15th series of Taskmaster starts on Channel 4 at 9pm on Thursday, March 30.
