Claudia Winkleman has finally cleared up a huge question The Traitors fans have been asking: ‘Where do they sleep?’
The 52-year-old Strictly Come Dancing presenter has kept us on our toes for two seasons of the epic murder mystery game show, which features 22 contestants divided into deceitful Traitors and detective Faithful.
And she’s now spilled more information on the details we’ve all been dying to know, and no, we’re not talking about where she gets her iconic jumpers.
The 22 Traitors, including Diane and Harry, compete for a share of £120,000 at Ardoss Castle in Alness, north of Inverness, Scotland.
We see them taking on brutal challenges on the grounds and plotting murders in the Traitors Tower, but they do not sleep in the castle.
Claudia has now clarified that the stars all sleep ‘in different hotels’ to avoid any confusion.
Speaking on Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett’s Dish podcast, she added: ‘The amazing thing about that castle is if you leave the castle, it goes – there are so many tributaries. So everybody is man-marked, they have somebody who is looking after them, and when they leave the castle, they don’t see each other until they arrive at breakfast.’
Claudia went on to explain that the contestants are not allowed to use their phones and must film ‘until really late’.
The Traitors, who must plot their murders after the Faithful have gone to bed, stay even longer, with Claudia revealing that ‘there is no way they can bump into anyone’.
She added: ‘Everybody leaves, including the Traitors… and then they’re brought back, about an hour later.’
Alan Cumming, the Traitors US host, previously revealed that none of the stars stayed at the castle, despite some footage showing the contestants working out or getting ready in opulent rooms.
‘Spoiler alert: None of us stayed in the castle. None of us,’ he told Daily Beast.
‘They [the contestants] all stayed in the airport hotel in the Inverness airport. How glamorous—you come to Scotland, and you stay in the Inverness airport hotel.’
He continued: ‘I stayed in a little house in Inverness. But I had a room in the castle where I would get made up and dressed. It had a huge bed in it. So I did actually sleep quite often, but not overnight.’
The revelation comes after the resounding success of The Traitors season two finale, as applications for season three open.
Traitor Harry received £95,150 after a season filled with memorable moments, betrayals, Claudia’s stunning jumpers, and the dreaded fizzy rosé.
6.9 million viewers watched Harry’s ultimate gameplay, with an average of 5.5 million.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
