A mistake by the Channel 4 programme announcer left viewers of Late Night Lycett worried that Friday night’s show was the final one in the series.
Comedian Joe made a triumphant return to our television screens for another episode of his hilariously camp discussion show. This time, presenter Jonathan Ross, 62, comedian Judi Love, 42, and actor Rob Delaney, 46, joined as star guests.
Surprisingly, 39-year-old comic Katherine Ryan was unable to appear on the programme for a repeat interview.
The announcement that the most recent live broadcast will be the grand finale caused a flood of misunderstanding online before it even began airing.
Thankfully, this is not the case, and Joe will return the following week.
After the first announcement, however, several fans expressed confusion, commenting, “Strange that they’re promoting this as the final episode of the series when Channel 4 has it scheduled for next week as well.”
‘If this is the final one, I’m absolutely gutted. Best show on TV in a long time!’
Another said: Not sure why the @Channel4 continuity announcer said it was the last in the series (twice) when it’s on next Friday too?’
With a live audience and famous guests, Birmingham is the location for the five-episode Late Night Lycett television series.
The performance follows Joe Lycett’s Big Pride Party’s triumph from the previous year.
‘Each Friday a mix of Joe’s community of local legends, LGBTQ+ heroes and allies will join him alongside celebrities and big-name guests from the worlds of comedy, television, music, and film,’ the official synopsis teases.
‘With inclusivity and fun at its heart, the series will see Joe take a look back at the week in a way only he can – combining his unique brand of mischief and mayhem with his singular style of comedy.
‘Shot on the banks of Birmingham’s canals, the show will bring a touch of Hollywood sparkle to Digbeth in a big night of unmissable entertainment.’
Late Night Lycett returns on Friday at 10pm on Channel 4.
