During the newest edition of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer, comedian Lucy Beaumont’s showstopper was labelled “worst ever.”
The 39-year-old accompanied Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley, radio personality Adele Roberts, and actor David Morrissey on the roster. Lucy showed her crumbling showstopper creation to judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith during Sunday’s episode, which was inspired by an all-you-can-eat carvery meal with Tom Hardy and Idris Elba.
After the celebrity begged the judges not to judge her final assignment, Prue joked, ‘If we asked you for your worst nightmare, I’d imagine you’d win.’
Paul chose to take the bullet and sample Lucy’s bake, but he quickly spit it out.
Savage!
‘I wouldn’t say it’s inedible, but it’s on the way. I’ve never had a cake like it. It’s bizarre,’ he said.
Out of earshot, Paul told Prue as well as hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas: ‘It’s certainly one of the worst cakes we’ve ever seen in the tent!’
Noel couldn’t help but poke fun at Lucy before crowning David this week’s Star Baker.
‘The winner of star baker is Lucy… No of course it isn’t,’ before adding, ‘If it was up to me you’d be the winner.’
Addressing his win, David said: ‘I can’t believe it. I mean, I don’t know whether you saw my face when it was announced, I was convinced it was going to be Adele, I thought her cake was so amazing. So, yeah, I won’t gloat about it.’
Prue added: ‘David had a really good two days. He’s a really careful baker. Tom and Adele were both close on David’s heels. David didn’t romp ahead and win, he just pipped them to the post.’
The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer returns to Channel 4 later this year.
