The UK’s wealthiest TV presenter has been identified, and most will be surprised to learn that it is neither Ant or Dec.
Despite the duo’s combined income from hosting and their own production firm, which is behind hit programmes like I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, another famous TV personality is making more money.
Who is that host? Walsh, Bradley.
Bradley has been named Britain’s richest television presenter, with an estimated fortune of £18.6 million.
The actor and comedian’s bank account is claimed to have grown by an astounding £3.5 million in the last year.
According to data from his WingIt Productions company, this makes him the wealthiest single TV personality.
While Ant and Dec were frontrunners for the championship, it is only their combined wealth that would propel them to the top.
‘Bradley really is at the top of his game right now and is raking it in,’ a TV insider told the Daily Mail following the release of the figures.
‘He’s firmly established himself at the top of his profession and is the go-to man for both the BBC and ITV.
‘And that shows no signs of slowing down either, as viewers can’t get enough of him.’
Bradley, 62, was recruited by ITV after pursuing a career as a professional football player. He was given the post of presenter on one of the network’s game series, Midas Touch.
In 1997, he was invited to host the British version of the renowned American game show Wheel of Fortune.
After only a year in that job, Bradley chose to pursue acting full-time, spending two years on Coronation Street from 2004 to 2006, followed by appearances on Law & Order: UK and Doctor Who, as well as a major part in The Larkins.
He then became the presenter of The Chase in 2009, and has since hosted various ITV game programmes such as Odd One In, Keep It in the Family, and Cash Trapped.
He has been starring in Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad with his son Barney since 2019, and the pair is also ready to headline the Gladiators relaunch on BBC One in the coming months.
Last year, The Chase’s Anne Hegerty discussed how she’d react if Bradley ever left the game show, claiming it was ‘hard to envisage’ another host taking over.
‘I’ve sometimes had conversations with Mark when he says, “If Bradley leaves, who else do you think could do it?” And I’m like, “No no no, I can’t hear you.”
‘I will not entertain that thought,’ she added when speaking to Metro.
The Chase is available to stream on ITVX.
