Netflix’s Better Call Saul is back for a new and final season 6 this April.
Slippin’ Jimmy’s transformation into the Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk is back in the lead role with a memorable ensemble cast after recovering from a heart attack last year) we know from Breaking Bad has almost come full circle.
It may be the beginning of the end, but before that transformation is complete we have a final 13 episodes to enjoy in the series’ sixth and final season, almost two years after season five.
So far, there’s been plenty of hints about what plot details are in store in the final installments of the show – and here’s what we know so far.
Who is in the Better Call Saul season 6 cast?
All your favourite faces will return, so some good news there.
Bob Odenkirk will return as Jimmy ‘Saul Goodman’ McGill, with Jonathan Banks as likable criminal handyman Mike Ehrmantraut.
Rhea Seehorn is set to return as ambitious lawyer Kim Wexler while Breaking Bad super-villain Gus Fring will be played once again by Giancarlo Esposito.
Michael Mando (Nacho Varga), Patrick Fabian (Howard Hamlin) and Mark Margolis (Hector Salamanca) are also expected to feature along with several other familiar faces.
When will Season 6 be released?
Better Call Saul season 6 will premiere in the UK on April 19 on Netflix.
The 13 episode season will be split into two parts. Eps 1+2 will arrive on April 19, with the next five episodes airing weekly each Tuesday.
But, very much like Ozark, fans will have to wait a little longer for the second part of season 6, as the final run of 6 episodes will begin on July 12.
Bob Odenkirk shared the news on Twitter, saying: ‘Here it comes! Best season of all! A whopper. Can’t wait to share with you.’
What will happen in season 6?
The official plot synopsis reads: ‘Better Call Saul’s final season concludes the complicated journey and transformation of its compromised hero, Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), into criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.
From the cartel to the courthouse, from Albuquerque to Omaha, season six tracks Jimmy, Saul and Gene as well as Jimmy’s complex relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn), who is in the midst of her own existential crisis.’
And we’ll finally get to discover those mysterious black-and-white flash-forwards at the start of every episode in which Saul is living as ‘Gene,’ which likely directly takes us up to the Breaking Bad present.
Better Call Saul showrunner Peter Gould has teased a ‘surprising and heartbreaking’ final season.
‘In my eyes, this is our most ambitious, surprising and, yes, heartbreaking season,’ he said in a statement.
‘Even under incredibly challenging circumstances, the whole Saul team – writers, cast, producers, directors and crew – have outdone themselves. I couldn’t be more excited to share what we’ve accomplished together,’ he continued.
Is there a Better Call Saul season 6 trailer?
The official trailer for Better Call Saul season 6 is here.
There’s a lot to unpack in the nearly two-minute trailer: Jimmy’s criminal clientele is expanding; Nacho appears to be on the run after the events of season 5, with the Salamanca twins possibly on his tail.
And Howard wants some payback and appears to be putting Jimmy in his legal crosshairs. Oh, and unless we’re seeing double, there seems to be two Lalo Salamancas (a scary thought indeed).
Is this the last season?
In a series of tweets announcing the very last season of the acclaimed show, Netflix shared the fact that the series won’t be renewed, much to the disappointment of fans.
‘(HEART)BREAKING NEWS: The final season of Better Call Saul premieres on Netflix UK/IE on 19 April,’ they shared.
‘The 13 episode season will be split into two parts. Eps 1+2 will arrive on 19 April, with the next 5 episodes airing weekly. After a break, the final run of 6 episodes will begin on 12 July.
‘Then that’s it. Forever.’
