Adam Hills, the host of The Last Leg, announced the end of his long-running show with a very amazing one-liner.

The 52-year-old Australian comedian has hosted the show since its inception accompanying the 2012 Summer Paralympics.

It is co-hosted by Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker and provides a summary of the week’s happenings as well as the crucial public service of yearly giving the mock accolade Dick of the Year to a prominent person.

However, it was announced this week that its broadcaster, Channel 4, was slashing costs, with The Last Leg among the series on the chopping block.

While it will continue to air, the following season’s episode count has been reduced from nine to seven.

Despite the news, Adam seemed to have handled it in stride.

Sharing a post on Twitter that discussed the cut, he joked that: ‘I mean, if ever there’s a show that can cope with losing a few bits, it’s ours.’

For those not aware, Adam has previously described his show as ‘three guys with four legs talking about the week’, because he was born without a right foot and Alex had his right leg amputated when he was a baby.

Since 2012, The Last Leg has shown on Channel 4 on Friday evenings.

Its 28th season will premiere later this month.

The previous season featured lots of memorable incidents, like Adam following through on a pledge to fire a flare from his buttocks if he lost a wager.

In the season finale in December, he stabbed the flare into his rear after wagering with Josh and Alex that Australia would advance further in the World Cup than England.

As we all know, Australia was eliminated before reaching the quarterfinals, but England advanced deeper.

During the episode, Adam explained that it was ‘time to make good on a wager’ and that he needed to ‘end the show in true English tradition,’ an act inspired by Charlie Perry, a roofer from Sunbury-on-Thames who became known as the ‘Arse Flare Man’ after pictures of him went viral in the run-up to England’s Euros final match against Italy in 2021.

The Last Leg is streaming on All4.
