When a festival-goer interrupted an interview, Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt, and roving reporter Hannah Miller had to think quickly.
They were talking to Hannah, who was at the Download festival, about the latest news from the UK music event. This included discussing the supporters who were unable to attend the event owing to the heavy traffic heading up to its venue, Donington Park.
Hannah walked through a row of tents and gave the presenters back in the studio an update on the situation.
‘Metallica were performing really, really late into the night, so some of them [the attendees] are only just going to bed,’ she explained.
‘There are a few early rises coming around.’
It was at this point a festival-goer saw it as his opportunity to have 15 minutes of fame.
‘I love my prescription speed provided by the NHS,’ he exclaimed into the camera.
Certainly not something you’d expect to hear on a morning programme!
A slightly-flustered Hannah replied: ‘Thank you, hey’ and seemingly stifled a small giggle. ‘Thank you very much. Thank you.’
The bystander was wearing a sweatband and holding two empty cans of beer, which might indicate the type of weekend he is having.
As Hannah apologised and returned to the studio, members of the breakfast show’s team scrambled to pull him out of the shot.
‘There’s a lot of people who want to have a lot of fun as we can see,’ she pointed out after the surprise outburst.
‘Sorry about that.’
We’re curious if he’ll recall this interaction tomorrow.
