Many pre-sale aspirants flocked to social media this morning, uploading photos of pricing ranging from £93.60 for Level 4C tickets to £436.85 for a slot on the floor seating area.
According to The Liverpool Echo, in the first few minutes of the 9 a.m. presale, pricing for ordinary seated tickets began at £47.55 and climbed to £1,306.75 for selected VIP packages, with few options under £400 remaining.
‘Oh these concert ticket prices are becoming insane now,’ one fan said. Level 4 at the O2 for nearly £100?!! People need to cease buying tickets at this price so that something can be done about it. It irritates me.’
‘Those Madonna ticket prices are crazy!’ commented another. I just want to know who’s paying that much.’
The inflated prices could be attributable in part to Ticketmaster’s contentious pricing scheme, in which charges are not published ahead of time but change based on demand.
Let’s hope the ticket price shock doesn’t completely deflate the excitement surrounding the tour announcement, which arrived in the form of a video that appeared to be a parody of the Queen of Pop’s 1991 tour film, Truth or Dare.
This time, Madonna is seen playing the classic game with a slew of celebrities, including Lil Wayne, Amy Schumer, and Jack Black.
When Amy Schumer challenges Madonna to a world tour of all of her biggest hits, the Like A Virgin singer asks her star-studded entourage whether they think anyone will show up (they did).
The star then answered, ‘The answer is f*** yeah.’
The Celebration tour will commence off on July 15 in Vancouver and will visit 25 US locations before travelling on the European leg, which will begin on October 14 at London’s O2.
The trip will conclude on December 1 in Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome.
Unlike Madonna’s recent tours, which have primarily featured new music, the Celebration tour will be a 40-year retrospective of her greatest songs.
