What major movies did Meat Loaf star in? From Fight Club to Rocky Horror

The entertainment world is mourning the passing of one of the most iconic rock stars of his generation, as Meat Loaf has died aged 74.

The Texan-born singer was one of the best-selling recording artists of all time, with his album Bat Out Of Hell among one of the best selling albums in music history.

Beyond his status as a rock legend, however, Meat Loaf was also a prolific actor on both stage and screen, appearing in over 50 movies and TV shows.

But what are some of the major movies that the Paradise At The Dashboard Light artist star in?

What major movies did Meat Loaf star in?

Meat Loaf – whose real name was Marvin Lee Ada – appeared in a number of movies both as himself and as characters similar to his operatic stage persona.

One of his first major roles was in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, where he played Eddie the Ex-Delivery Boy, a role he originated in the hit stage production.

Other major film roles for the actor included drug lord The Lizard opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Carlyle in 2001’s The 51st State.

Among some of Meat Loaf’s most memorable cameo appearances include his parts as Dennis the bus driver in Spiceworld: The Movie, Tiny the Bouncer in Wayne’s World and Jack Black’s dad in Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny.

He was also no stranger to TV screens, with guest appearances in the likes of House, Elementary, Saturday Night Live, WWE and South Park.

Among his other theatre credits, the late rock star starred in both the on and off-broadway productions of Hair, Rainbow and Rockabye Hamlet.

Who did he play in Fight Club? Character explained

Meat Loaf’s role in David Fincher’s Fight Club has gone on to as one of his most famous on-screen appearances.

In the 1999 movie, Meat Loaf played Robert ‘Bob’ Paulson, an ex-body builder who befriend Edward Norton’s Narrator when the pair meet at ‘Remaining Men Together’ – a support group for men with testicular cancer.

The men cross paths again when they both become a part of the burgeoning underground Fight Club community established by the charismatic and mysterious Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt).

When Durden goes on to establish the anarchist group Project Mayhem, Bob becomes indoctrinated as a member, where no one has a name and all individuality is removed.

Bob soon however becomes a martyr for the anarchists after being shot when fleeing the scene of their latest act of disruption, an attack on a Starbucks called ‘Operation Latte Thunder’.

The chant ‘his name is Robert Paulson’ becomes an unofficial anthem for Project Mayhem, who make it a rule that ‘in death, they have a name’.
