Barbara Broccoli, who produces movies and is well-known in the film industry, has provided an update on the much awaited hunt for the new James Bond.
Both the 62-year-old woman and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson are in charge of the search for the actor who will succeed Daniel Craig in the role of everyone’s favourite spy.
In recent years, there have been rumours that a number of notable actors, such as Bridgerton‘s Regé Jean-Page, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba, are in the running to play the part. Among these actors are Idris Elba. Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Tom Hardy.
But, alas, we are going to have to hold out for a little while longer until we find out who will be the face of the new 007. Whoever it is, we can be sure that they will have excellent proportions.
When asked about the rumours while attending the BAFTAs on Sunday, Barbara responded to LADbible by saying, “No, we haven’t even begun casting yet.” Everyone can now take a deep breath.
She added: ‘There isn’t even a script.’
According to what Barbara stated the previous year, the disclosure is still possibly a “couple of years off.”
When I asked her about it at the time, she responded by saying, “The issue is, it’s going to be a couple of years off.” When we cast Bond, we make a commitment that lasts between ten and twelve years.
‘So he’s probably thinking, ‘Do I really want that thing? Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it]. A lot of people think, “Oh yeah, it’d be fun to do one!” Well. That ain’t gonna work!’
The fact that the character, which has been existing since 1953, must be completely reimagined is another factor that contributes to the difficulty of the hunt for the ideal connection, in addition to the time commitment that is required.
Barbara explained: ‘That’s why, when people go, ‘Oh, who are you going to get?’ It’s not just about casting an actor for a film. It’s about a reinvention, and “Where are we taking it? What do we want to do with the character?”‘
“And then, once we figure that out, who’s the right person for that particular reinvention? With [Craig], when we had the conversation at this very table about, you know, [whether he was] going to do it, he said, “Well, I’m going to do it. I really want to be a part of it, the whole thing.”

‘And he lived to regret that! But it’s a big commitment. It’s not just showing up for a couple of months of filming.’
Since Daniel took over the role of James Bond from Pierce Brosnan in Casino Royale in 2006, Barbara is doing a great job of marketing the position, which has been brilliantly filled by Daniel ever since Casino Royale.
Daniel, who is 54 years old, claimed that he had “no intentions” to continue acting when he hung up his gleaming spy shoes in 2021 following the release of No Time To Die; nevertheless, he later earned a lead part in the mystery film franchise Knives Out.
Everyone should know that there is life after Bond, by the way…
