A sequel to Girls Trip has apparently been confirmed, with the girls wreaking mayhem in Ghana.
The first instalment, starring Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish, was a summer box office triumph in 2017, following four best friends on a wild vacation in New Orleans.
Tracy Oliver seemed to reveal the good news while promoting the second season of her Amazon Prime Video comedy Harlem.
Concerning the ‘definitive Girls Trip 2 update,’ ‘It’s officially happening,’ she informed. That’s something I can say.’
She avoided giving too many details, but indicated that the girls will be having the time of their lives in West Africa in the rumoured sequel.
Fans were eagerly awaiting the announcement and voiced their excitement on social media, with one saying, ‘Oooh I’m ready.’
‘I manifested this btw,’ another added.’
‘Nature is healing,’ a third person enthused.
Jada Pinkett Smith, who played Lisa Cooper in the film, recently stated that she is confident the cast would rejoin for another round of wild hijinks.
‘We’ve talked about doing a sequel, so we’ll see if it happens, but I think with the success of the movie it will happen,’ she said.
‘It’s just done $30 million at the weekend, so I’m so proud. They’re saying that we’ve taken rated R comedies out of their slump so it’s a nice moment for us for sure’.
In response to fan requests for a sequel, Scream actor Regina (Ryan Pierce) confessed that she, like the rest of us, is on the edge of her seat.
She said: ‘On this one, I am as excited as everyone else to find out. I’ve heard they’ve got ideas and I’m scared. I’m like “oh no, where are the girls going to go?”. I don’t know, but obviously, I’d like to see us in more shenanigans.
‘But I’m looking forward to moving the story forward. We definitely have to have a narrative that is just as funny and also not the same, so it would be interesting to see what the writers come up with.’
