It turns out that even Hollywood star Chris Evans may be ghosted in the current dating hellscape.
At least, not in his most recent film.
The 41-year-old Marvel actor has paired up with leading lady Ana de Armas, 34, for a new high-octane rom-com thriller on Apple Originals.
The teaser, which was released on Tuesday, depicts his character’s great love gesture gone haywire in the explosive new Ghosted trailer.
Evans is seen falling hard for the mysterious Sadie (de Armas), even labelling her ‘the One’ to his family, before departing on a romantic vacation to London to surprise her when she stops responding to his messages, ‘ghosting’ him as the kids put it.
Or, as Evans would put it, ‘not having an international calling plan.’
After being taken by unknown criminals, commanded by Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, he rapidly finds that his new love interest is a CIA officer known as ‘The Taxman’.
Multiple car chases and gun fights ensue, with Evans indignantly telling de Armas: ‘You got me kidnapped and tortured all after one date.’
‘You’re the one who flew to London,’ de Armas replies.
‘It was a romantic gesture!’ Evans retorts.
They previously appeared opposite Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, and Christopher Plummer in Rian Johnson’s 2019 whodunit thriller Knives Out.
De Armas is also nominated for her first Academy Award for best actress for her performance in Blonde as cinematic legend Marilyn Monroe.
Despite the accolades for her performance, the Andrew Dominik-directed picture is the most-nominated at the 2023 Razzies, also known as the Golden Raspberry Awards, which honour the year’s worst films and performers.
Meanwhile, Chris recently became Instagram official with girlfriend Alba Baptista, 25, following rumours that the two had been discreetly dating for a year, with the former Captain America star apparently ‘never happier’.
Ghosted will be available to stream on Apple TV+ on April 21.
