Spencer Matthews, who was on vacation in Spain, was hospitalised for two days owing to a cold sore medication overdose.
According to wife Vogue Williams, 37, the 35-year-old was on a family vacation when he fell ill.
She believes the disease was caused by him taking 10 cold sore medications each day when the suggested amount is two.
Vogue, which recently revealed the couple’s passionate love life, noted that the medications may not have been the main cause for the hospitalisation.
Spencer, Vogue, and her auntie had all contracted a mysterious illness during the vacation.
‘Spenny was hospitalised for two days because he is a little b***h and he can’t handle it,’ she joked on her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me with co-host Joanne McNally.
Sounding less than sympathetic for her husband’s mystery illness, Vogue continued: ‘Well I will tell you what, he overdosed on cold sore tablets. I am not joking, I am not joking, I’m not.
‘He overdosed on cold sore tablets and his liver function, because he did it for a full week, taking 10 of these things and he said “Oh they’re fine.”
‘And he did it to me when I thought I felt a tingle and he said “darling take six of these and you’ll be fine” and you’re only meant to take two.’
The family’s vacation was little derailed, but they still had a good time in Spain, taking their three children; Theodore, four, Gigi, three, and baby Otto, 15 months.
Spencer had just had a disaster after being passed over for best friend Jamie Laing‘s wedding, only to reconcile for the Spanish ceremony.
The McVities heir skipped his Made in Chelsea co-star’s wedding, subsequently apologising for leaving him off the guest list.
After viewing photos of the happy couple’surrounded by groomsmen and buddies,’ the father-of-three subsequently confessed he was ‘pretty pi***ed off.’
The couple appeared to put their differences aside as they partied together in Spain for the second ceremony.
