Sharon Osbourne has paid heartfelt tribute to her friend Paul O’Grady.
Paul died ‘unexpectedly but quietly’ on Tuesday evening at the age of 67, according to his husband, Andre Portasio.
Sharon, 70, said her ‘life will be darker’ without the late actor and sent her condolences to his husband Andre and daughter Sharon.
‘You brought so much love and light to everyone’s life, I know mine will be a little darker without you in it’ Sharon wrote beside a heartbroken emoji. ‘All my love and condolences to Sharon and Andre.’
She also posted a selfie of herself with Paul on social media, leaving behind his husband, daughter, and two grandkids.
Andre confirmed this week: ‘It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.
‘We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.
‘He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.
‘I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.’
Tributes from the entertainment industry have been flooding in, with Carol Vorderman and Lorraine Kelly among the first to send their thoughts, while the royal family has also expressed their sorrow.
The Royal Family recognised his efforts alongside Queen Consort Camilla in a social media statement, as they both supported Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
Sharing a picture of Paul with the Queen Consort, they wrote: ‘Deeply saddened to hear of the death of Paul O’Grady, who worked closely with Her Majesty in support of @Battersea_, providing lots of laughter and many waggy-tailed memories.’
According to palace officials, the Queen Consort was ‘extremely devastated’ by Paul’s passing, adding that his ‘warm heart and contagious laughter lighted up the lives of so many’.
