After getting a bit too enthusiastic on stage, a Ne-Yo fan discovered why she should never take his hat again.
The Because of You singer, who made a surprise visit on Love Island last week, recently played at Downsview Park in Toronto, Canada for a star-studded R&B and hip-hop event with Nelly, Rick Ross, and Ja Rule.
During the performance, Ne-Yo, 43, paused to connect with the audience and let a few lucky fans onto the stage.
One woman, however, got a bit too handsy and snatched the singer’s iconic hat straight off his head, clearly crossing a line for him.
In a video posted by a concertgoer, Ne-Yo can be seen heading over to the concertgoer, who then returns the hat after wearing it herself.
‘She know good goddamn well she wasn’t supposed to grab my hat,’ Ne-Yo told the audience, clearly annoyed.
He then grabbed her waist and pushed her to the side adding: ‘Get your ass back over there,’ before sticking his leg out and pretending to boot her off the stage.
As the clip went viral on social media, Ne-Yo laughed off the incident on Instagram, commenting under a video of the awkward moment with several cry-laughing emoji.
One laughed: ‘WE ALL know better than to take that man’s hat off.’
‘He more than irritated 😂 that leg says “FINISH HER” in Mortal Kombat,’ another quipped.
Others pointed out the invasion of Ne-Yo’s personal space, including one who said: ‘Just because we pay for their shows, buy their music doesn’t mean we have the right to touch them.’
One fan agreed: ‘People really don’t get how disrespectful it is to touch a man’s hat. It’s fuckn ANNOYING AF. I get sooo pisssed.’
Fans have recently gotten a little carried away during live events, causing musicians to be injured by flying items from the audience.
Bebe Rexha required many stitches in her eye after being pummelling by a fan’s cellphone, while Kelsea Ballerini was carried off stage when a fan hurled an item that struck her eye.
When Ne-Yo dropped by the villa last week to serenade them with a medley of his classics, the Love Island cast were considerably better behaved, before slipping the girls off to Casa Amor without the lads’ knowledge.
