Hayley Atwell has spoken out about Tom Cruise’s rumoured romance.
The actress, 41, co-stars in the action franchise with the lead actor, 60, and their most recent appearance was in the seventh movie, Dead Reckoning Part One.
Hayley and Tom were long thought to be more than just friends, with rumours appearing last June that they had split up for good, just a few months after rekindling their relationship.
And now, the actress, who married her actor fiance Ned Wolfgang Kelly in April, has firmly shot down the ‘strange’ rumours.
During filming, she considered Tom as more of an uncle figure than boyfriend potential.
‘I would be like, “Ooh, there’s some weird rumours, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about”,’ she told The Independent.
‘Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?
‘It’s upsetting.’
Hayley continued to post her co-star’s motivating messages after bringing the reports to his attention.
‘When I’ve talked to him about it, he’d be like, “You know exactly who you are. You know what you’re about. And that is the only thing that matters. It doesn’t matter what people think of you, if you are in integrity with yourself, if you know what your value system is.’
Hayley continued to post her co-star’s motivating messages after bringing the reports to his attention.
‘Lucky me. Arrived in Venice at 10am, around midday the love of my life and I got engaged in the kitchen of this strange apartment surrounded by ducks, with a bloke outside the window murdering “My Way” on the accordion,’ he penned.
‘A perfect start to the rest of our lives together. I’d never had any interest in getting married… until I met this extraordinary woman. Happy as a clam.’
Hayley and Ned have kept their relationship mainly hidden from the public eye and have only been spotted together a few times, which appears to be working just well for them.
She has, however, been boldly displaying her beautiful engagement ring, which she wore on her finger at the Mission: Impossible premiere earlier this month.
Her clothing, however, was not for everyone, as the actress was subjected to incredibly unpleasant trolling as a result of her attire.
Yes, in classic online fashion, everyone had an opinion – but Hayley wasn’t about to back down.
One Instagram user commented on her gorgeous black gown: ‘Girl ily [I love you] but that dress and hair was not it.’
Writing back with a witty retort, Hayley said: ‘It certainly was “it” for me. I have great news for you – no one is asking you to wear this dress,’ alongside a smiley face.
That’s them told!
