Madonna posted an odd statement on social media just before being taken to critical care after becoming severely unwell.
After getting a’serious bacterial infection,’ the Material Girl icon, 64, was found unconscious and was rushed to critical care.
Fortunately, her condition is stated to be “improving.”
It was a terrifying time for her family, who were apparently ‘prepared for the worst’ after keeping the condition a secret since June 24, when she was supposed to have caught it.
Lourdes Leon, her 26-year-old daughter, was allegedly by her side the entire time.
But, considering what is now known, Madonna took to Instagram just one week ago with a rather unsettling message.
In it, she posted an array of fabulous (as ever) pictures of herself in full rehearsal swing, and commented: ‘The Calm Before The Storm……….’
Some of the photos showed the icon getting ready for her tour, which was supposed to begin on July 15 in Vancouver but has already been postponed.
The actress was claimed to have been rehearsing hard before contracting the virus.
‘On Saturday June 24, Madonna acquired a significant bacterial illness, which resulted in a multiple day stay in the ICU,’ her manager said in a statement.
‘Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.
‘At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.
‘We will share more details with you soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows.’
The eagerly awaited Celebration Tour will commemorate four decades of the Like A Prayer singer’s amazing career and will feature all of her biggest hits.
She was then scheduled to perform many nights in London in October and December, as well as appearances in Europe and North America.
This follows Madonna’s chart-topping smash Vulgar, which she co-wrote with singer Sam Smith.
A family friend revealed to Mail Online: ‘For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst.
‘That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday. Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation.’
Madonna is also the mother of Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and Stella and Estere, 10 years old.
