Liam Payne’s mother has spoken out about how ‘worried sick’ she is over her son’s hospitalisation in Italy.
It was reported on Tuesday evening that the former One Direction singer had been hospitalised while on vacation to celebrate his one-year anniversary with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
His hospitalisation occurred only weeks after he informed supporters in an emotional video that he’d been forced to postpone his solo tour due to a kidney ailment.
Following the latest health update, Karen Payne, the 30-year-old’s mother, expressed her concern for her son’s well-being, highlighting how ‘helpless’ she felt.
‘We are all worried sick about it but we just have to get on. It’s horrible – him being all the way over there,’ she said, MailOnline reported.
‘He’s in Milan and it sounds like he’ll be there for a week. I feel helpless.’
She continued: ‘All we can really do is sit it out here and hope for the best. There is nothing we can do. We feel helpless.’
Karen added that it was ‘such a horrible situation’, and they ‘just hope he’s in the best place possible’.
A source previously claimed that Liam was ‘in a bad way’ when he was admitted to hospital.
‘Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on,’ they told The Sun.
‘Naturally he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill.
‘Doctors have warned him not to expect to be signed off to go home for at least another six days.’
According to the source, the doctors want to ‘do every test possible to understand the issue’.
According to the report, Liam was brought to A&E in an ambulance before being transferred to a hospital ward for emergency care, where he is anticipated to stay for a few days.
‘It’s with a sad heart that I have to tell you that we have no other choice than to postpone my next tour of South America,’ the artist said on Instagram on August 25.
‘Over the past week I’ve been in hospital with a serious kidney infection, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and doctors orders are that I now need to rest and recover.’
He continued: ‘I was beyond excited to come play for you guys. To all of you who have bought tickets: I’m so sorry. We’re working to re-schedule the tour as soon as we possibly can, but for now we will be refunding the tickets – so please look out for updates from your point of purchase.
‘Thanks as always for the love and support, and look forward to seeing you soon.’
