Amanda Holden had a frightening meeting with a dominatrix while filming her current TV programme – and acknowledged she was ready to jump in if necessary.
The 52-year-old host collaborated with historian Dan Jones to film sequences for the duo’s new educational series Sex: A Bonkers History, which will show on Sky History.
The couple transports viewers back in time, taking them through the greatest hits of sex while also attempting some old techniques themselves.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge remarked on her time investigating the finest undiscovered sex tales ahead of the series’ premiere date, admitting that there were certain situations that truly touched home.
Amanda told Metro.co.uk about her encounter with a dominatrix and why she couldn’t whip the expert into shape.
She shared: ‘There was a dominatrix involved and both of us [Dan] were sort of itching to get away.
‘He had to go pick his kids up from school and I had to pick up my little Holly from school and this woman was… well poor Dan was the victim – not the victim, the subject.
‘She whipped Dan and Dan just thought, “Oh well, we’re just a telly show, this is going to be fine”, and it actually hurt him and I felt very defensive.’
Flinching at the memory, the star carried on explaining that she felt the need to step in and save her co-host: ‘And I was like ready, like, “Oi!”. He limped into the school playground that day.’
In other news, the mother of two spoke up about how to master the Kama Sutra and revealed what she learned from filming the piece, which comprised a couple of actors re-creating the stances.
Amanda admitted: ‘Oh, nothing. Those poor actors met on that day – I think one was straight, one was gay – and I was watching it and I was just thinking one of my children was meeting me in a cafe down the road, she was being dropped off on the school run, and the other half of me was doing my Ocado shop.
‘Then I kept going, “Oh no, focus, focus, focus on these poor actors”, and then I kept thinking about when I was a drama student.
‘You all had to have your black Lycra and I was thinking, “Oh god, this is like drama school all over again”.
‘The Kama Sutra’s yoga. I switched off.’
Looking over the portfolio of legendary sex legends, the TV personality was quick to pick her fave.
She revealed who her sexual heroine was from back in the day and said: ‘I’ve read so much and have an interest anyway, personally, about Marilyn Monroe.
‘I didn’t really learn anything new about her during filming but it was great, I’ve never dressed up as her before.
‘For me that was a really nice thing to be able to do. And then I kept the wig and went to my friend’s 50th.
‘That was just really nice because she’s a heroine of mine anyway.’
Sex: A Bonkers History is available on Sky HISTORY from Monday, September 18.
