Katherine Ryan was enraged when her child was refused entry to a theme park attraction.
Violet, 13, Fred, two, and Fenna Grace, born in December of last year, are the 39-year-old Canadian actress’s three children.
She, like many others in the UK, took advantage of the bank holiday weekend to spend quality time with her children, visiting Diggerland with her two eldest.
Things did not go as planned, however, when little Fred was ruled ineligible for one of his favourite rides.
The comic shared her annoyance on Instagram, uploading a snapshot of Fred next to a measuring scale and claiming that they had been waiting for ‘years.’
‘Fred wasn’t allowed on this ride after queuing ages lol ok’, the comic wrote.
She then repeated Julia Roberts’ iconic comeback line from Pretty Woman in a video.
‘I don’t wanna “big mistake, huge” that girl too much because she was just doing her job, you know, health and safety,’ Katherine began.
‘But, big mistake,’ she deadpanned, as daughter Violet chimed in: ‘Huge.’
‘Actually, it takes a unique skill set that I admire to do a job like that,’ she went on.
‘To be able to look at a two-year-old, nearly two-year-old, who’s just queued for 25 minutes and be like, “No.”
‘And then his mum’s like, “Well, look, he’s like, definitely tall enough,” and she’s like… “No.”
‘Diggers are the thing he loves most in the world and he was queuing up because he really wanted to go on a ride and drive one, and you’re still like, “No.”‘
‘That girl’s a stone-cold killer,’ the stand-up comic declared.
Fortunately, it wasn’t all bad news, as Fred was able to enjoy some other diggers, if not the big rides.
Katherine showed him sitting on her lover Bobby Kootstra’s lap while his father manoeuvred the digger’s claw in another video.
‘Look! You’re digging in the muddy puddle, yeah!’, Katherine cheered from behind the camera.
‘Good digging, Fred! Good digging!’, she praised, as her little one waved.
Something tells us that Fred had no complaints about their family outing based on the smile on his face.
Katherine opens out about her family life on social media, and she isn’t afraid of’mum shamers.’
She was recently obliged to respond after being chastised for consuming wine while nursing.
In response to a troll, Katherine responded, ‘Kera, my tiny children are clever enough to gently explain to you why it’s alright.’
She then stated that she ‘doesn’t mind’ people expressing their opinions.
Chatting at the National Comedy Awards, Katherine said: ‘I don’t mind mum-shaming, I feel like anytime people really jump on an issue is because they’re passionate about it, and we’re all very passionate about our children and how we raise them.’
She continued: ‘I had a glass of wine while breastfeeding which scientifically they say you can do, and I was happy to open up that conversation really, I don’t mind being in the eye of the storm and people hating on me because I know I’m right.
‘I don’t mind, my kids are happy, and I thought it was nice that we could have a conversation, because then maybe, there would be a mum watching that conversation at home who says, “Oh I can have one glass of wine, maybe I’ll keep breastfeeding for another six months or another year and I can have my life back and relax”.’
