Jordan Banjo posted an update on social media following a’scary few days’ in the hospital with his infant boy Atreus.
In April, the Diversity star, 30, had his third kid with wife Naomi Banjo.
Naomi revealed on Tuesday that her ‘heart was breaking’ after transporting Atreus to the hospital, where he was ‘immediately hospitalised with sepsis and possibly meningitis’.
The I’m A Celebrity contestant has now shared an update on Instagram, along with a heartwarming photograph of the father-son combo enjoying some much-needed rest.
He wrote: ‘Been a scary few days, but Atreus is a little trooper.
‘Glad to be back on positive ground after all that, seeing your baby hooked up to all sorts of cables and machines, hearing words like sepsis and meningitis is never going to be easy but want to say a huge thank you to The Neptune Ward at Southend Hospital who were so incredible with us, you’re the best.’
Fellow I’m A Celebrity star Joe Swash commented: ‘V in the family been thinking about you guys sending you all our love and prayers.’
Meanwhile, Love Island’s Iain Stirling wrote: ‘Sending you all the positive vibes mate.’
On Tuesday, Naomi shared on Instagram: ‘Ahh gosh, where do we start … in case your wondering where we’ve been, last week I took Atreus to A&E after feeling like something wasn’t right and he was immediately admitted with sepsis and suspected meningitis.’
According to the NHS, sepsis is life-threatening and happens when someone’s immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage their body’s own tissues and organs.
Meningitis, meanwhile, is an infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord.
Naomi continued: ‘It’s been the most emotionally draining, frightening week of our lives. We’ve cried a lot, we’ve barely slept, and we’ve discussed the worst .. but we’ve carried each other through possibly one of the most traumatic weeks of our lives..
‘You never think it would be your baby and honestly I can’t explain how awful it is having to leave your poorly baby behind in a hospital and go home and just be “mummy” to your other children when inside your heart is breaking 😢💔.’
Naomi stated that she and Jordan had been alternating nights living with Atreus and their other children in order to provide them with some ‘normality,’ but that it had been ‘tough.’
‘We’ve done our best for our babies. All we need now is our family back together where we belong.’
She went on to explain that Atreus had been in hospital for five days and he ‘finally had a stable temperature’ and ‘things are looking positive’ for him.
She continued: ‘We are finally seeing an improvement 🤞🏻 our super brave strong boy has had all sorts of blood tests, a lumber puncture and constant prodding and poking this week but there’s finally light at the end of the tunnel and we cannot wait to get him home where he belongs ❤️.
‘We still don’t really have answers and it’s another week ahead of antibiotics but he’s on the right path and we are just keeping positive 🙏🏻❤️.’
Naomi and Jordan have two children: Cassius, four, and Mayowa, three, known as Mimi.
