As their eldest kid graduates from university, Jamie and Jools Oliver are seeing the “end of an era.”
Poppy, Daisy, 20, Petal, 14, Buddy, 12, and River, six, are the famous couple’s five offspring.
Poppy started university in 2020 and has finally graduated after a lengthy journey that includes adjusting to campus life amid the epidemic.
Jools uploaded a happy and emotional Instagram video on Friday, assisting her daughter in celebrating her accomplishments dating back to when she was four years old and began learning to read.
Jools added in her heartfelt statement, which included photos of Poppy tossing up her cap and receiving her diploma, ‘What a fantastic, joyous, incredibly emotional day celebrating Poppy’s graduation.’
‘We have never felt so proud,’ she went on, remember how at four years old she came home from school without the reading book given to many of her classmates as ‘they felt you were not ready’.
‘You were so upset, so I brought you the same books and we read them together every night at bedtime and you came on in leaps and bounds! It was wonderful to watch. That’s my earliest memory of your complete obsession with books, reading and writing and thankfully it has never stopped!’
She described the graduation as ‘the end off an era,’ saying the family ‘can not wait to see what your next challenge and adventure brings.’
Jools then paid tribute to “all the students who have been unable to acquire their degrees” because their work had not been graded or their grades had been delayed.
‘With Poppy’s year being the ‘Covid freshers’ they really deserve better that being the understatement!!! (sic).’
‘So much sweat and tears literally went in to Pop finishing her dissertation and final exams. Hours and hours spent in the library most days till midnight! They all deserve to be acknowledged and they deserve to get their degree and celebrate their graduation. Hoping this happens very soon.’
Along with the encouraging message, Jools posted a few images from the momentous day, including a photo of the newly-graduated Poppy grinning as she stood in her gown at the university and hugged her mother sitting on the stairs.
Jools ended the piece with a snapshot of Poppy as a youngster, her head in a book as she rested in the yard, giving readers – and perhaps herself – one final emotional thrashing.
Some of Jools’ 500,000 followers raced to the post to wish Poppy well, congratulate her on graduation, and share encouraging comments for her new job.
Jamie and Jools had Poppy three years after they married.
The pair married for the second time earlier this year, renewing their vows in a beautiful ceremony in the Maldives.
On Easter Sunday, the famous chef shared stunning photographs with a text explaining why the long-term couple opted to reaffirm their vows so late in their marriage.
‘Yep After 23 years together, we thought it would be a special moment to celebrate renewing our wedding vows before the kids all start leaving the nest,’ he wrote.
‘It was really special, funny and romantic with the words in the ceremony making more sense having come this far together.
‘It seems like a blink since the first wedding which we kept very privet apart from the paparazzi at the village church we thought it would be a happy and joyful moment to share with you all this Easter.
‘We’ve always dreamed of going to the Maldives and it was just as you would have dreamed, simply amazing!’
